TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
We are human beings’ first
Then male and female
With each (male/female) having their unique attributes-
And roles specific to their genders.
But as humans who are dynamic by nature, we can switch roles without much ado-
But only IF we have/want to.
No one should be rebuked or undermined for sticking strictly to his/her gender roles.
No one’s rights should be infringed on for being male or female
This is what feminism is all about!

Both men and women have the rights to vote, to hold public offices, to work,
To earn fair and equal wages, to own property, to be educated and so on.
However, when it comes to the home, there is a Divine established structure.
Here, the man is the head with all sole responsibilities.
And the woman is a help mate, created to assist the man in his responsibilities.

Now my opinion….
A woman is meant to keep the home
Making sure her husband, the kids and everyone else are well taken care of,
There’s food to eat and all…
And in this modern times, assist her husband financially when there’s need for that.
The word for a woman is ‘assistance’
Now, I will not coman be forming jackichan because I am a ‘feminist’
Carry all the burdens that my gender did not send me to carry,
Fail to perform my duties as a woman, a daughter, wife and mother because I want to prove to a man that I am equal to him yen yen yen
Feminism is necessarily not about equality but equity.
It is not a gender competition.
I cannot frown at the very concept of love, romance and family life and only focus on building my career because I want to join the ‘pepper the male folks gang’
No!

I am a woman, I am beautiful, soft, tender yet strong and fierce.
I am caring, emotional but not vulnerable.
I love to be treated right, to be pampered upandan
And I will not camouflage this very aspect (that some women now pretend about) of mine as a woman because I want the male folks to know just how important I am.
They already know that.
I live my life, they live theirs.
There should be liberation for both genders.
No one should be violated in any way for being male or female.
That you’re the head of the home doesn’t give you the right to ride on the other person.
That you’re not the head of the home doesn’t mean you should not submit to the head, become envious and rebellious.
Let each man and woman stick to his/her gender roles and only intelligently switch when the need arises without ‘causing fight’.

Why I’m I ranting about this?
Because I’m tired of having to listen to so many sadists wanting, striving to be what God has not created them to be in their homes,
Destroying their ‘especially’ male counterparts’ coz they’re simply sad being what is required of their gender.

This is a call to stop spreading hate and spread love instead.
Life’s too short to be sad.
Appreciate your sex.
Appreciate your gender roles.
Love everyone irrespective of their genders.
Treat every human fairly and equally, with love and respect.
Understand your roles as a man/woman especially in the home.
Then, stick to them.

THANK YOU.

TICK! TICK!!... DO QUICK!!!

Ever heard the Nursery rhyme, ‘Tick says the time tick tick; what you have to do do quick’? Or the popular statement that time waits for no one? How about ‘Do not do the right thing at the wrong time’? Have you ever heard that procrastination is the foundation of all failures? Or that the time is now? What about, “the bad news is time flies; the good news is you’re the pilot”? Or that “a man who dares waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life”? I tell you, a lot has been said about time, all pointing to its very importance. During my undergraduate days, one of our lecturers, Professor Ojebode once taught the class a poem by Robert Herrick. It goes this way, “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may; Old time is still a-flying; and this same flower that smiles today tomorrow will be dying”. Professor Ojebode made us recite this during every of his lecture periods. This, I believe was done to create a lasting awareness about the importance of time and time management i...

DIARY OF A TIRED GIRL AND LESSONS LEARNT

Today is 9 th  of October, 2016 and time is 11:30pm. I am lying on my bed this Sunday night feeling tired, very very tired. My tiredness is borne out of the various activities I had engaged myself in. I sat on my chair, computer on table with my eyes fixed to the computer screen. I had been on this for long hours now. I only got up when I needed to cook, brush, have my bath and then I continued the act. This feeling of fatigue! For the greater part of the last three months, this has been my routine. I remember having body aches sometime as a result. I had to visit the hospital for that but on this fateful night, I learnt my lesson. I cannot even believe I’m writing this. I tell you, I’m feeling so tired!  I've  been feeling dizzy, like…I’d fall to the ground and then…Halfway to writing this, I was called to join the rest of the family for our daily evening prayers. During the course of our prayer meeting, ‘Nepa’ took light. I’m back to my room feeling even worse b...

COME ALIVE LITTLE BIRD

Hey little bird! Little bird on the tree. Little bird on the tree could you please sing for me? You sit there and watch with gloomy eyes. Where went your chatterings? Where went your chirpings? Hey little bird! Who clipped your wings? Please, come alive little bird. Again, little bird, come alive @Amarachi Nwankwo, 2019 Note: Children are like birds- beautiful, full of life with bright futures ahead. May we be careful not to ruin their lives with our words, silence, actions and inactions. May we never clip their wings. May we invest love, care and much more into their young lives and be sure to reap them. May we build a sane society. #saynotosuicide
